The western shore paths spread visitors out, and because the whole cone fits over the lake with nothing built in between, the reflection on a calm morning is as complete as anywhere in the region. Diamond Fuji at Lake Tanuki --------------------------- Twice a year, around April 20 and August 20, the sun rises exactly behind the summit seen from the lake, and for a few moments the peak wears the sun like a jewel. On calm water the lake doubles it into a double diamond, which is why these two windows draw crowds to a lake that is nearly empty the rest of the year.
