About this view --------------- This is one of several cameras streamed from Mt Shichimen, the 1,989-meter sacred Nichiren Buddhist peak about 25 km due west of Mt Fuji in Minobu. Like its sister feeds, it looks east across the Fuji River valley toward the mountain from near-equal elevation, the rare "peer-to-peer" angle where Fuji sits level with the lens instead of towering overhead. The reasons to watch are the same as for the main Shichimensan camera, with the different framing giving a second chance when cloud clips one angle: pre-dawn and sunrise are the prime hours, when the east-facing view catches Fuji backlit and glowing, and cold mornings from October through February bring the best odds of a sea-of-clouds inversion filling the valley below both peaks. Because this is the west side, its clear windows regularly disagree with the north and south cameras, which is exactly why it is worth a look when everything else is grey.
