  About this view
---------------

This camera streams from the observation deck at the top of the Mt Fuji Panoramic Ropeway on Mt Tenjo, the small mountain on the eastern shore of Lake Kawaguchi. It is provided by UTY, a Yamanashi television station, and looks south toward the summit about 17 km away. From this height the view clears the rooftops entirely: Fuji rises across the valley with the town and lake spread out below, the same panorama visitors ride the ropeway to see.

The elevation is this camera's advantage. On mornings when low haze or thin mist sits over the lake basin, the deck can be above the murk with a clean line to the summit, so it is worth checking alongside the lakeshore cams whenever they look grey. The usual north-side rhythm applies: dawn to mid-morning is the reliable window, a cap cloud often forms on the summit from mid-morning, and the cold months from October through March are the clearest. If this feed shows a sharp summit, the ropeway ride up will be worth it.

  Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

Is Mt Fuji usually visible from the ropeway observation deck? The deck sits well above Lake Kawaguchi, so it often keeps a clear line to the summit even when thin haze covers the lake basin below. The dependable window is sunrise to about 9 a.m., with October through March the most reliable months. From mid-morning the familiar cap cloud can settle on the summit.

When is the best time to catch a clear view on this cam? Early morning for the highest chance of a cloud-free summit. On hazy days the elevated deck stays clearer than the lakeshore, so if the lake-level cams look milky, check this feed before assuming the mountain is hidden. Winter gives the sharpest air and a snowcapped cone.

Should I ride the ropeway if this cam shows a clear summit? Yes, and sooner rather than later. The camera shows the exact panorama from the top station, so a clear feed means the ride will pay off right now. Conditions on the north side often close in from mid-morning, so treat a clear feed as a go signal rather than something that will hold all day.

How is this different from the other ropeway camera? Two cameras stream from the same observation deck area, run by different operators with different framing. This one is provided by UTY television; the other is a 4K feed from Fujiyama NAVI. If one is offline or pointed into cloud, the other usually settles whether the view from Mt Tenjo is open.
