  About this view
---------------

This camera streams from Oshino Shinobi no Sato, the ninja theme park in Oshino village between Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka, about 15 km from the summit. The park is best known for its formal Japanese garden laid out with Mt Fuji directly behind it, and that is the composition the camera watches: manicured garden, pond and pines in the foreground with the full cone rising beyond.

Oshino sits on a high plain at around 940 m with an open, unobstructed line to the mountain, which is why the village, including the famous Oshino Hakkai spring ponds nearby, is one of the most dependable Fuji-viewing areas on the north side. The reliable window is the standard one, sunrise to about 9 a.m., with October through March the strongest months. For families weighing a visit, the feed answers two questions at once: whether Fuji is out, and what the weather is doing over the park itself.

  Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

Is Mt Fuji usually visible from Oshino Ninja Village? Oshino sits on a high open plain with a direct line to the mountain about 15 km away, making it one of the more dependable north-side viewing areas. Early morning is the reliable window, and October through March are the clearest months, with the usual cap-cloud risk from mid-morning.

When is the best time to catch a clear view on this cam? Early in the day. The garden composition is at its best when morning light falls on the cone behind the pines. Note the park itself keeps daytime opening hours, so a stunning dawn view on the feed is a reason to arrive at opening time rather than at midday.

Is the ninja village worth combining with Oshino Hakkai? They sit in the same village and pair naturally: Oshino Hakkai for the famous spring ponds and old-village scenery, the ninja park for gardens, shows and activities with the same mountain backdrop. This site also has a live cam at Oshino Hakkai, so you can check both views before you go.

I am heading to Oshino, can this cam tell me whether to go now? Yes. A clear cone in this feed means the whole Oshino plain has the view, including Oshino Hakkai a few minutes away. If the feed is grey, check the forecast above for the next likely window rather than gambling on an afternoon clearing, which is uncommon on this side.
