 Visiting Mt. Fuji soon?
-------------------------

Clear weather does not always mean Mt. Fuji is visible. Cloud height, haze, and humidity matter just as much. Check our 8-day visibility forecast before you go.

Where to check Mt. Fuji weather and visibility
------------------------------------------------

For viewing Mount Fuji on a clear day, the most popular north-side spots near the Fuji Five Lakes are [Lake Kawaguchiko](https://isfujivisible.com/viewspots/lake-kawaguchiko) and [Chureito Pagoda](https://isfujivisible.com/viewspots/chureito-pagoda). See [all Mt. Fuji viewing spots](https://isfujivisible.com/viewspots) for the full directory.

Weather is only one input. Clear skies do not guarantee Mt. Fuji is visible, since cloud height and haze matter too. Cross-check this forecast with the 8-day [Mt. Fuji visibility forecast](https://isfujivisible.com#visibility-forecast), and see [historical visibility by month](https://isfujivisible.com/visibility-by-month/2026) for what to expect month by month.

   Frequently Asked Questions
----------------------------

What is the weather like at Mt. Fuji? Mt. Fuji weather depends heavily on altitude. The Fuji Five Lakes area at the base (around 800-1000m) is cool year-round, with hot humid summers, dry sunny autumns, freezing snowy winters, and mild rainy springs. The summit (3,776m) is sub-arctic and rarely above freezing even in summer.

When is the best weather to visit Mt. Fuji? Late autumn (November to early December) and winter (December to February) offer the clearest skies and lowest humidity, which is also when Mt. Fuji is most visible. Spring and early summer bring frequent rain and haze. The official climbing season is July to early September, when the summit is accessible but the lower viewpoints often have summer haze.

What are typical temperatures around Mt. Fuji? At the Kawaguchiko base area: summer (Jul-Aug) highs of 25-28°C and lows of 16-19°C; autumn (Oct-Nov) highs of 14-20°C and lows of 3-10°C; winter (Dec-Feb) highs of 5-8°C and lows of -5 to -2°C; spring (Apr-May) highs of 15-21°C and lows of 4-10°C. The summit is roughly 25°C colder than the base year-round.

Does it rain often at Mt. Fuji? Yes. The rainy season (tsuyu) runs from mid-June to mid-July, and typhoon season runs from August through October. The Fuji Five Lakes area receives around 1,600-1,800mm of rain per year, with June, July, and September being the wettest months. November to February are the driest.

Can you see Mt. Fuji when it is raining? Usually no. Rain almost always means heavy cloud cover that hides the mountain. However, the few hours just after rain clears can produce the most spectacular views, with washed-out haze and crisp visibility. Our visibility forecast tracks this rather than rain alone.

What is the Mt Fuji weather tomorrow? Tomorrow's Mt. Fuji weather is shown in the second card of the 8-day forecast above, with temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind, and cloud cover split by morning and afternoon. The Kawaguchiko base area and the wider Fuji Five Lakes region typically share the same general forecast, while the summit is around 25°C colder.

What is Kawaguchiko weather like? Kawaguchiko weather closely mirrors the Mt. Fuji north-side base because Lake Kawaguchiko sits at around 830m elevation, roughly 13km north of the summit. Expect cool, humid summers (highs 25-28°C), dry crisp autumns (highs 14-20°C), cold snowy winters (lows -5 to -2°C), and mild rainy springs. For tracking visibility from the Kawaguchiko shore, see our Lake Kawaguchiko viewspot page.

Where does this weather data come from? Our forecast data is sourced from Yr.no, the public weather service run by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and NRK. We fetch the latest 8-day forecast daily for the Mt. Fuji area and split it into morning and afternoon slots.

Is weather the same as Mt. Fuji visibility? No. A clear weather forecast does not guarantee Mt. Fuji will be visible, and a cloudy forecast does not guarantee it will not. Visibility depends on cloud height (low clouds may sit below the peak), humidity, haze, and the viewing direction. Use the weather forecast as a first signal, then cross-check with our visibility forecast.

How accurate is the 8-day Mt. Fuji weather forecast? Days 1-3 are typically very accurate. Days 4-5 are reasonably accurate. Days 6-8 are directional and should be treated as a planning hint rather than a commitment. Check back closer to your visit date for sharper numbers. The forecast is also commonly searched as fuji mountain weather or Mount Fuji weather.
