  About this view
---------------

This camera streams from the rooftop terrace of Mt. Fuji Station, the Fujikyu Railway station in central Fujiyoshida, about 15 km from the summit. Fujiyoshida sits directly at the mountain's northern base, so the view from the rooftop is the head-on city composition this area is famous for: streets and rooftops in the foreground and the cone towering over them, seemingly close enough to touch.

The station is a practical waypoint as well as a viewpoint: it is where buses leave for the Yoshida Trail fifth station in climbing season, and it is one stop from the Chureito Pagoda area. That makes this feed a genuinely useful pre-trip check for climbers and sightseers alike. Visibility follows the north-side rule of early mornings first, with October through March the most dependable months. When the feed shows a crisp summit over the rooftops, the famous shopping-street views of Fujiyoshida are at their best at that same moment.

  Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

Is Mt Fuji usually visible from Fujiyoshida? Fujiyoshida sits right at the mountain's northern base, so when Fuji is out it fills the sky above the city. The dependable window is sunrise to about 9 a.m., with October through March the clearest stretch. From mid-morning the summit often disappears into its own cap cloud even on sunny days.

When is the best time to catch a clear view on this cam? Early morning, before the cloud builds. The head-on angle from Fujiyoshida means even a partly clear mountain is impressive here, but the full cone with a visible summit is an early-hours sight far more often than an afternoon one.

Is this a useful check before climbing Mt Fuji? Yes. Buses for the Yoshida Trail fifth station leave from this station in climbing season, so the feed shows conditions at your departure point. Remember that weather on the summit differs sharply from weather at the base; use this view for the lower mountain and check a mountain forecast for the climb itself.

How is this different from the Chureito Pagoda camera? Both are in the Fujiyoshida area, but Chureito frames the mountain beside the famous five-storey pagoda from a hillside park, while this rooftop camera gives the straight-down-the-street city view. They are one train stop apart, so a clear feed on one almost always means the other has its view too.
