 Mount Fuji Visibility in May 2026 Late Spring
===============================================

May offers comfortable temperatures and long daylight, but visibility tends to weaken compared with March and April. Humidity rises, haze thickens, and afternoon clouds form earlier. Early May, especially around Golden Week, can still produce excellent mornings, particularly after passing weather systems clear the air.

The snow cap is shrinking through May and is largely gone above the fifth station by month's end, which changes the mountain's look from "iconic snow cone" to a darker, more rugged profile.

   Frequently asked questions about May
--------------------------------------

   Is May a good time to see Mt. Fuji? May is decent but not the strongest month. Clear mornings still happen frequently, especially in early May, but humidity and haze make consistent clarity less reliable than in winter.

   When is the pink moss (shibazakura) festival? The Fuji Shibazakura Festival near Lake Motosuko typically runs from mid-April through late May, with peak bloom in mid-May. It pairs vivid pink fields with a Mt. Fuji backdrop.

   Is Mt. Fuji still snow-capped in May? Partially. Snow remains on the upper slopes into mid-May but recedes quickly. By the end of the month, much of the upper mountain looks dark and bare.

   Can I drive to the fifth station in May? The Subaru Line to Yoshida Fifth Station typically opens in late April for cars and stays open through summer. Other access roads may open later. Check current road status before traveling.
