  About this view
---------------

This camera watches the forecourt of Kawaguchiko Station, the railway and bus terminus where nearly every visitor to the Fuji Five Lakes first arrives, with Mt Fuji rising above the rooftops about 16 km to the south-west. It is a street-level view rather than a scenic one, which is exactly what makes it useful: you see the mountain the way you will actually first see it, over the town, and you also see the real weather at the single most important transport hub in the area.

If you are on a highway bus from Tokyo or the Fujikyu Railway line, this feed answers the question that matters most on arrival day: is Fuji out over Kawaguchiko right now? Mornings are far more reliable than afternoons, with the usual north-side pattern of a clear dawn window and building cloud from mid-morning. The station sits slightly below the lake, so if the summit is clear here it will be clear from the lakeshore viewpoints a few minutes away as well.

  Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

Is Mt Fuji visible from Kawaguchiko Station? Yes, the mountain rises directly above the town from the station forecourt, about 16 km away. Like all north-side views it is most dependable from sunrise to about 9 a.m., and November through March are the clearest months, 77 to 100% of mornings visible in our archive against 32% in October 2025. If the summit is sharp in this feed, you will see Fuji the moment you step off your train or bus.

When is the best time to catch a clear view on this cam? Early morning. The first buses from Tokyo arrive at Kawaguchiko before the mid-morning cloud typically builds, so an early departure gives you the best odds of arriving while the mountain is still out. Afternoon arrivals are a gamble in any season, and especially from June to October, when north-side afternoons scored visible on 10 to 29% of days in our archive.

I am on my way to Kawaguchiko, what does this cam tell me? It shows both the mountain and the conditions at the exact point where you will arrive. A clear summit means head straight for a viewpoint before conditions change. A grey feed tells you to plan an indoor first stop, check the forecast above, and watch for the next clear window instead of rushing to the lakeshore.

Where should I go first if Fuji is visible when I arrive? Do not overplan it: the lakeshore is minutes away and the view from the northern shore is excellent. If you have a little more time, the Panorama Ropeway near the lake or Oishi Park along the north shore both give elevated or flower-framed versions of the same view, and both have live cams on this site you can check first.
