 About this view
---------------

This camera streams from Jukkoku Pass at 770 m elevation on the northern edge of the Izu Peninsula, between Atami and Hakone. Mt Fuji is about 41 km to the north-west, viewed across the deep valley separating the Izu and Tanzawa mountain ranges. The dark forested ridges of the Tanzawa Range layer between the viewer and the mountain. On the clearest winter days, Mt Fuji and the snow-capped Southern Alps appear in the same frame.

Winter morning visibility from this elevation extends over 100 km on the clearest days, making December through February the strongest months. The viewpoint faces north-west, so afternoon backlight from a setting sun emphasizes Fuji's outline against pink sky in late autumn. The greater distance from the mountain means small atmospheric haze affects the view more than at the Fuji Five Lakes cameras: when this cam shows a clean summit, conditions are genuinely high-clarity across the region.

  Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

Is Mt Fuji usually visible from Jukkoku Pass? Fuji is about 41 km away across the valley, so this view depends on genuinely clear air. December through February are strongest, when visibility from this 770 m vantage can stretch over 100 km and Fuji appears alongside the snow-capped Southern Alps. Because the distance amplifies any haze, a clean summit here is a strong sign of high-clarity conditions across the whole region.

When is the best time to catch a clear view on the Jukkoku Pass cam? Winter mornings give the highest clearance and the longest sightlines. The viewpoint faces north-west, so late-autumn afternoons can also backlight Fuji's outline against pink sky. On hazy days the mountain fades out entirely from this distance, so watch for the crisp, cold days.

I am heading to Jukkoku Pass, can this cam tell me whether to go now? Yes, and it matters more here than at closer viewpoints, because Fuji is only out from this distance on genuinely clear days. The deck is reached by the Jukkoku cable car, so confirm a clean summit on the feed before you ride up, and cross-check today's forecast above. A hazy feed means the mountain will likely be invisible on arrival.

Can I see Sagami Bay and Fuji in the same view? Yes. The 360-degree observation deck at the top of the cable car shows Mt Fuji to the north-west and Sagami Bay to the east-north-east. The live cam framing typically prioritizes the Fuji direction.
