This page covers who builds the site, where every number on it comes from, what the forecast can and cannot tell you, and how to reach me. Who runs this site ------------------ I am [Orkhan Farmanli](https://www.linkedin.com/in/orkhanfarmanli/), a senior software engineer, and this is my site. I write the code, choose the data sources, check what goes on the page, and answer the email. No editorial team behind it, no company sponsoring it. I am not a meteorologist. The forecast here is a software product built on public meteorological data, not original weather research, and the [methodology page](https://isfujivisible.com/methodology) walks through exactly how the score is calculated so you can judge it yourself. Why this site exists -------------------- Standard weather apps tell you whether it will rain in Kawaguchiko, which is a different question from whether the mountain will be out. A clear, sunny day with high humidity or a cloud cap sitting on the summit still means you travel two hours and look at a grey wall. Most visitors get one day in the Fuji area and no way to tell in advance whether it is the right one. So the site forecasts the thing tourists actually care about, and it separates the two sides of the mountain and the two halves of the day, because a single daily number for the whole of Fuji hides exactly the information you need to pick a morning and a viewpoint. What the site publishes ----------------------- Everything here is free to read, with no account and no paywall: - A 10-day visibility score from 1 to 10, split into north and south viewpoints and into morning and afternoon periods. - Hourly weather for Lake Kawaguchiko and Hakone, with cloud layers, wind, pressure, sunrise, and sunset. - 36 live cameras around the mountain so you can check the current view yourself instead of trusting a forecast. - A public archive of past forecast scores, published month by month. - 8 viewing spots, sakura and koyo maps, an event calendar, and long-form travel guides. - The whole site in 15 languages. Where the data comes from ------------------------- Every number on the site traces back to one of these. They are archived predictions, not ground-truth observations, and they are labelled that way wherever they appear. For independent observed data, Fuji City has published a three-times-daily visual record since 1990: [富士山観測の記録](https://www.city.fuji.shizuoka.jp/documents/7545/fujisan-kiroku2025.pdf). What this forecast cannot tell you ---------------------------------- It is a forecast, so it is wrong sometimes. Accuracy decays with distance: a score for tomorrow is worth far more than a score nine days out, and the far end of the range is planning guidance rather than a promise. Mountain weather can also turn over in under an hour, which no daily forecast captures. The score describes expected view quality from a general direction, not from one specific bench at one specific lake. That is the whole reason they are on the site. How the site is funded ---------------------- The forecast costs money to run and nothing to use. It is paid for by affiliate commission: some travel links point to Klook, and if you book through one, this site earns a percentage at no extra cost to you. What the money does not buy: no forecast score, ranking, viewing spot, or camera placement is influenced by a commercial relationship, and citation links to data sources and research are never sponsored.
